SCIS is one of the premier private schools in Santa Cruz de la Sierra teaching primary and secondary students. I taught ICT to grades 5 through 12. The younger students got very basic introductory materials, while the high school students were taught a curriculum designed after the Cambridge International IT Syllabus. High school students learned about hardware, software, web technologies and some programming basics. Ethical and philosophical considerations were also discussed. Younger students learned about social media and it's impact and the senior class discussed emerging technologies and how they might impact their lives in the future.

Centro Ecologico Cuevas
Cuevas
Cuevas is a very popular destination 100km west of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. There I supervised day to day operations of the property. I worked with staff to ensure a safe and enjoyable visitor experience. I implemented Cuevas's social media presence and I produced a web page for them (whose domain has since lapsed). Cuevas also produces potatoes, beans, coffee and citrus. Working at Cuevas, I learned about various aspects of managing a plantation in the tropics and gained an appreciation of the people who work one.

EMARC and IGP at the University of Colorado
EMARC & IGP
At the University of Colorado I worked closely with Dr. Paul Weimer on two of his research initiatives. For EMARC, I helped with the maintenance and purchase of computers, the lab's computer network, and troubleshooting user issues. For IGP, I led a team of students in the development of educational videos and interactive games to teach the historical geology of Colorado.

I started my professional career as a temporary employee in the shipping department. I quickly got hired, and (after a 2 month sailing trip) was soon promoted to Lead Shipping Clerk. I took on the role of Junior Buyer toward the end of my time with the company, but left when I realized that a college degree was important to me.
